Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect very little, we sell none of it, and you can ask us to delete it. The long version is below, delivered on time for once.

The Morning Delay newsletter

Our free newsletter runs on Beehiiv. If you subscribe, Beehiiv collects your email address so we can send it to you. Beehiiv's signup form and an attribution script from Beehiiv load on our pages; these may record how you arrived at the signup (for example, the page or referring link) and may set cookies or similar identifiers, under Beehiiv's own privacy policy. Beehiiv may also measure email opens and clicks.

The contact form

When you write in, we collect your name, email address and message. These are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database so the editor can read and reply. We use them only to answer you and handle your tip or correction. We do not share or sell them.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare may process basic technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and request logs to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Fonts

Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers when you visit. See Google's privacy policy.

Ads, affiliate links and cookies

We don't run ads today. In the future we may show ads, including through Google AdSense, and may include affiliate links that earn us a small commission. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can learn more, and opt out of personalized advertising, via Google's advertising policies and Ads Settings. We'll update this page if any of that happens.

Unsubscribing and deletion

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. To ask us to delete your contact messages or subscription data, or with any privacy question, email hello@belatedgazette.com. We'll handle it promptly, which, for us, is saying something.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
