Railroad Apologizes for Running Out of Cars at Exactly the Right Moment

The Panama Railroad, the American-owned line that crosses the isthmus, issued its sincere regrets today after it found a special train for two Colombian generals at Colón but somehow could not find cars for their several hundred soldiers.

The generals rode to Panama City, where they were promptly arrested. The soldiers waited at Colón, near the USS Nashville. 'We do our best,' a railroad official said, adjusting a schedule that had been very carefully adjusted. Travelers report the line is otherwise running remarkably well, especially for revolutionaries.
