The Belated Gazette is a satirical publication. We report real historical events as if they were breaking news. Headlines, jokes, quotes, interviews, op-eds, classifieds, weather and advertisements in our issues are invented for comedy, and quotes attributed to real historical figures are fictional. The factual history is summarized in each issue's “What really happened” box. Nothing here is current news.
Accuracy
We work to get the history right, but we're a comedy paper, not a reference work. Don't cite us in your dissertation. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll correct it, eventually.
Not advice
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, medical or any other professional advice.
Our content
Unless noted otherwise, the text, illustrations and the Gazellius Maximus character are © The Belated Gazette, published by Odd Lot Media. You're welcome to share links and short quotes with credit. Please don't republish whole issues or artwork without permission.
Third-party links and ads
We may link to other sites and may display third-party ads. We aren't responsible for their content, products or policies. Ads are not endorsements, and our fictional in-issue “advertisements” are jokes, not offers. See our Privacy Policy for how ads and cookies work here.
Letters and submissions
If you send us a letter, tip or correction, you let us quote or publish it (lightly edited) unless you ask us not to.
Liability
The site is provided “as is,” without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for damages from using it.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Questions: hello@belatedgazette.com.
